The Clutter-Free Classroom Project: Week #2 Challenge

If you are just joining us, you'll want to start here or check out my Clutter-Free Guide to Classroom Organization & Management.

I have to start by saying thank you to all of you who linked up with the Before Pictures Linky Party. I was so energized by your enthusiam, excitement, and willingness to "put it all out there." The link will remain up there and you are welcome to join in at any time. I'm hoping that each of the weekly challenge linkys will continue to grow with time and become a great resource.

And now let's kick off week 2 of the The Clutter-Free Classroom PROJECT.

The goal for this week is to develop a plan for how you will declutter your space.

There are a few things I can not stress enough:
  • You can't organize clutter.
  • The less you have, the less you need to manage.
  • Your trash is {quite possibly} another person's treasure.
  • There is no value in an object that isn't being used.
I'm sure you are tempted to jump ahead to buying colorful bins and organizing your classroom, but that will not be effective.

First you need to purge everything that is not a necessity.

And before you can do that, you need to formulate a plan to help you meet with success.

Baby steps my friends.

So this week will be all about setting the stage for escorting all of the unwanted stuff out the door. After all, you can't have a Clutter-Free Classroom if you don't start by getting rid of the clutter.

It won't be that hard if you plan ahead and chip away at your plan.

You don't even need to throw anything away this week.

Develop a plan for decluttering your space and compose a list of "non-negotiable must purge" rules.

Throughout the week I'll be posting ideas to guide you through deciding what you will do with your unwanted "stuff," gathering everything you need to "purge" the classroom, and creating your plan of attack. I'll also be sharing some free printables with you.

I suggest you grab a 3-ring binder to help organize your PROJECT.

I'm a big fan of binders. :)

On Friday, I'll put up the first Linky Party related to the Clutter-Free Classroom PROJECT. The Linky will be ongoing and you can always jump in and link up at anytime. If you don't have a blog you can respond to the prompt in the comment section on Friday's post. Below is this week's prompt. Keep these questions in mind as you take your pictures:
